Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, announced at his press conference at the United Nations on September 25 that Iran has presented a seven-day plan to the United States for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the choice in this matter now depends on the United States.

Details of Iran's Seven-Day Plan

Araghchi said at the meeting: "If the necessary conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz can be reopened within seven days, and normal maritime traffic will resume." These remarks come as the Strait of Hormuz is recognized as one of the most important maritime routes in the world, playing a key role in international trade. The Iranian Foreign Minister also pointed out that the necessary actions required by the United States to reopen this strait are not new and all of them were mentioned in the memorandum of understanding that Iran and the United States agreed upon in June of this year.

Consequences of Reopening the Strait of Hormuz

Reopening the Strait of Hormuz could have significant impacts on the global oil market and maritime security. This strait is recognized as the focal point for the passage of about one-fifth of the world's crude oil, and any disruption in this route could lead to an increase in oil prices and economic fluctuations. Araghchi also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in maintaining maritime security and stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate in this regard.

Given the existing tensions between Iran and the United States, this seven-day plan is expected to be considered as an opportunity to reduce tensions and improve relations between the two countries. While the United States must make its decision in this regard, Iran hopes that this action can help stabilize security conditions in the region.
