On Monday, October 5, Yemeni government forces successfully captured key positions in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. This advancement was supported by airstrikes from the Saudi-led coalition and aimed at reclaiming areas from Houthi control.

Capture of the Dhubab Area

Government forces have seized large sections of the Dhubab area, which overlooks the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and have gained full control of this region with heavy air support from the Saudi coalition. Meanwhile, Houthi-affiliated media have strongly denied the claims of government forces' advancement in this area, describing it as "completely incorrect."

Escalation of Conflicts on Various Fronts

Meanwhile, Houthi forces made advances on Saturday along the mountainous road leading to the major city of Taiz, encircling government forces in the area. While some government sources have denied this claim, clashes continue on several fronts in Yemen, and this war has become one of the most serious humanitarian crises.

The Yemeni government announced on Saturday the start of its operations to reclaim land, with President Rashad al-Alimi emphasizing his determination to fight "until the country is freed from the grip of terrorist militias." Saudi Arabia has also supported this military operation with air power by providing weapons and training to Yemeni government forces.

In the continuation of these conflicts, Saudi Arabia has announced that it will continue to strike hundreds of targets in Yemen to support Yemeni ground forces and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. These conflicts have not only impacted energy exports from the Gulf but also pose a serious threat to oil export routes.

The city of Taiz, with a population of over half a million and the presence of thousands of government forces, is under siege by Houthi forces, and the humanitarian situation in this area has severely deteriorated. This conflict, which began in 2014 with the Houthi takeover of Yemen's capital, Sanaa, has become one of the longest and bloodiest civil wars in contemporary history.
