The U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, announced at a press conference on Saturday that the country expects Israel to take more serious actions regarding the violence related to Jews in the West Bank. This request came after videos were released of the attack on Heidi Levin, an American photographer for the Washington Post.
Details of Recent Attacks
Rubio stated: "We are very concerned about seeing these images and what is happening." He added: "We have asked the Israelis and continue to ask them to exert more pressure on this issue." These remarks came following an attack on Heidi Levin and two others on Friday, where Jews living in the West Bank attacked Palestinian civilians.

In addition to Heidi Levin, European diplomats and a French mayor were also attacked in these incidents. Belgium has also stated that its Foreign Minister has expressed serious concern regarding this matter.
U.S. Actions and Expectations from Israel
Rubio further told reporters that the U.S. State Department is investigating the incident and the attack on Levin. He also noted that he expects to receive a response from the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem by Sunday. According to released information, Jews living in the West Bank have participated in at least 170 attacks against Palestinians from September 27 until now. This date coincides with the start of the olive harvest season.
This violence continues amid growing concerns about its impact on regional peace and security. Many international observers believe that more serious actions from Israel could help reduce tensions and improve the human rights situation in the region.
