The Houthis in Yemen announced on Sunday that they have carried out a new attack on Riyadh International Airport, the capital of Saudi Arabia. This attack comes just hours after the country announced the resumption of domestic and international flights.
Details of the Airport Attack
According to available information, the King Khalid International Airport website in Riyadh had scheduled several domestic and international flights for Sunday, including flights from Dubai, Paris, and Cairo. However, the flight tracking website indicated that some flights had been canceled and several others were in progress.

Meanwhile, the sound of explosions was heard in Riyadh in the early hours of Sunday, and a text message was sent to city residents alerting them to potential threats.
Statement from Houthi Military Spokesperson
Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, announced that the group has conducted "three military operations using dozens of ballistic missiles" and claimed that the attack on the airport "achieved its goal." This group also conducted an attack on an airport earlier this month, resulting in the deaths of 13 people and injuring over 300, making it the deadliest attack in Saudi Arabia in more than a decade.
Saudi Arabia has not yet reacted to this new attack on the airport, and Saudi officials did not provide further information in response to questions about the scope of the new operations at the airport.
The Houthi spokesperson also stated that the group has attacked King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait and a naval base in Jazan in southern Saudi Arabia. The closure of Riyadh Airport is considered a significant blow to Saudi Arabia, as the country's advanced investment conference has been postponed to 2027 due to these circumstances.
The Houthi spokesperson had also previously warned that Riyadh Airport is still "unsafe" and considered a "military target." He urged all international, regional, and local airlines to refrain from using King Khalid Airport in Riyadh.
