Twelfth grade students in the Sultanate of Oman and other Gulf countries who were unable to participate in their examinations due to regional tensions and specific conditions will now have a new opportunity to take special examinations. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced in a statement on September 15, 2026, the holding of these special examinations for students in West Asian countries.
Background and Reasons for Holding Special Examinations
The holding of these special examinations is due to the cancellation of twelfth grade exams in 40 different subjects, including 20 academic subjects and 20 skill subjects. This cancellation was due to the critical conditions arising from tensions related to the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, which prevented the holding of examinations in Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. As a result, the CBSE Council used an alternative assessment model to evaluate students and allowed them to participate in actual examinations if conditions improved.

Supreme Court of India's Ruling and Its Implications
In light of a ruling issued by the Supreme Court of India in response to a complaint filed on behalf of affected students from Gulf countries, the CBSE Council is now fulfilling this commitment. According to this ruling, the scores obtained in the upcoming special examinations will be considered as final scores for all participants in Oman and other regions. This action reflects a special attention to the educational status and future of students in these areas.
