Hassan Qashqavi, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, announced in today's afternoon session that Article 10 of the Strategic Action Plan for Securing and Advancing the Strait of Hormuz has been approved. According to this article, the construction, operation, and development of communication and information technology infrastructure, including fiber optics in the Strait of Hormuz area, is subject to the approval of the relevant authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

New Regulations for Infrastructure Development

Qashqavi further explained that this article requires an executive bylaw to be prepared and approved by the Cabinet within a maximum of three months after the law comes into effect, coordinated by the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces. This indicates the serious commitment of the Islamic Republic of Iran to ensuring security and progress in the region.

Requirements for Including the Name Persian Gulf

The spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission also referred to the approval of Article 12 of this plan, which mandates the inclusion of the full title "Persian Gulf" in all negotiations, treaties, agreements, publications, and related documents. This decision emphasizes the historical and cultural identity of the region and the necessity of proper use of geographical names. Qashqavi noted that this name must be used in full and without any abbreviations in discussions related to vessels and fleets.

He also mentioned the details of Article 13 of this plan, which addresses compliance with the regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. According to this article, if the regulations concerning the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz are not observed, the regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be fully enforced. This matter is still under review, and a final vote on it has not yet been conducted.

The approval of these articles in the National Security Commission demonstrates the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to preserve and strengthen its security and national interests in the waters of the Persian Gulf. This action can also be seen as an effective step towards improving communications and regional cooperation, contributing to increased security and stability in this sensitive region of the world.
