British anti-terrorism police arrested five men on Monday on charges of terrorism and the use of explosives. These individuals were apprehended near the RAF Fairford airbase, which is used by the United States for attacks on Iran.
Details of the Arrest
Police forces arrested the men in the early hours of Sunday after receiving a report about three large white vans heading towards the military base. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the suspects were looking to cause "significant harm" and were under the surveillance of British and American authorities.

Investigations and Charges
British police officials have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects. However, a source familiar with the investigation indicated that a motive related to Iran is considered the most likely option. There is also consideration of potential sabotage plans from Russia or Islamist schemes. The police have released little information on this matter, raising questions about the level of surveillance on the suspects.
A local farmer, who has not been named, reported that he alerted the police after seeing a group of "hooded and masked men" running towards the fields. He said, "I believe my emergency call thwarted any plans they had."
Defense Minister, Ben Wallace, stated in an interview with the BBC that the farmer only has a "partial picture" of the events and emphasized that he would not speculate on the motives of an ongoing investigation. However, he commented on the public threat from Iran to the country, saying: "We know that Iran and its proxies want to harm us. We know they hate our democracy and we know we must repeatedly respond to Iranian efforts to threaten our interests or those of our allies."
Britain raised its national terrorism threat level from "substantial" to "severe" in April. This change indicates a high likelihood of a terrorist attack occurring in the next six months. The police are also investigating Iran's connections to several incidents targeting properties associated with the Jewish community or Iranian dissidents.
In response to these arrests, the U.S. Embassy in Britain issued a security alert, urging American citizens to "exercise caution" and "pay attention to their personal safety."
