Two Bangladeshi men were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for filling perfume bottles with counterfeit fragrances and selling them as original perfumes in Kuwait. These arrests reflect the ongoing efforts of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior to combat commercial fraud and protect intellectual property rights.
Details of the Arrest and Fraud Methods
Investigations reveal that the two suspects filled original bottles from international, regional, and local brands with oil mixtures that had similar scents and then sold them as original perfumes and testers. After setting up a purchase, the first suspect was arrested in the Mangaf area while delivering three bottles of perfume for 17 Kuwaiti Dinars. The original versions of these perfumes sell for over 150 Kuwaiti Dinars.
