The United States Central Command, CENTCOM, has announced that Bahrain is joining "Falcon Strike," the world's first multinational unit of one-way attack drones. This move makes Bahrain the first regional country to publicly announce its participation in this force.
Bahrain's Role in Regional Security
Brad Cooper, the commander of CENTCOM, described Bahrain as "a reliable partner in strengthening regional security and stability" in a statement. He emphasized Bahrain's commitment to working with CENTCOM to establish the world's first multinational unit of attack drones. This initiative was discussed during the U.S.-Bahrain Military Advisory Committee meeting in Manama and reflects Bahrain's serious determination to enhance security cooperation in the region.

In addition to joining Falcon Strike, Bahrain has also announced its intention to purchase more munitions and air defense systems from the United States. This move is part of Bahrain's overall strategy to enhance its defensive capabilities against regional threats.
Formation of the Falcon Strike Unit
CENTCOM announced on August 13, 2026, the formation of the Falcon Strike special force. This force will utilize one-way attack drones and unmanned aerial, surface, and underwater systems, managed by U.S. forces and regional partner countries. Falcon Strike was launched nearly nine months after the establishment of "Scorpion Strike," a unit introduced as the first dedicated U.S. Army unit for the use of one-way attack drones in the Middle East.
CENTCOM had also announced that it has officially invited other regional countries to join this force. This invitation aims to strengthen multilateral cooperation in security and defense and reflects the ongoing efforts of the United States to create security coalitions in the Middle East.
Strategic Implications of Bahrain's Joining
Bahrain's joining the Falcon Strike unit coincides with an increased U.S. military presence in the waters surrounding Iran. CENTCOM has announced that its forces have altered the routes of 125 commercial vessels as part of the enforcement of a maritime blockade against the Islamic Republic. Additionally, the aircraft carrier "USS George H.W. Bush" is supporting this operation in the Arabian Sea.
CENTCOM had previously rejected claims by officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps regarding complete control of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that thousands of vessels and over one billion barrels of oil have passed through this waterway in recent months. These statements demonstrate the United States' determination to maintain maritime security in the region and counter potential threats.
