In its speech at the United Nations on September 26, China explicitly criticized the United States and emphasized the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of Gulf countries. This speech came as the United States increased its pressures on Cuba and is implementing an oil blockade against the country.
Criticism of U.S. Threats Against Cuba
Han Zheng, the Vice President of China, specifically called on the United States to stop its threats against Cuba and to completely lift the blockade and sanctions. He stated that "China demands an immediate cessation of the use of force threats against Cuba." This request comes at a time when Cuba's power supply system is severely troubled due to pressures and fuel shortages, leading to widespread blackouts in the country.

The U.S. sanctions, which began in January, have worsened the situation for Cuba and increased the severity of blackouts. China, as a reliable partner in the international arena, reiterated its support for developing countries.
Support for the Sovereignty of Middle Eastern Countries
Continuing his speech, Han emphasized that "the sovereignty and security of Middle Eastern countries, including Gulf countries, must be respected." He made these remarks in contrast to recent pleasantries at the White House, where Donald Trump, the President of the United States, warned Xi Jinping, the President of China, not to support Iran. This warning came after reports of weapons being sent to Iran by China.
Han also noted that "major countries must have special responsibilities for maintaining international peace and security" and should lead in adhering to the laws and principles governing international relations.
As a major global power, China has positioned itself as a supporter of developing countries and believes that all countries, large or small, should be treated as equal members of the international community.
