South Korea ranks first among countries reliant on gas imports from this region, with a 31% dependence on imported gas for its domestic consumption. This information is derived from data from the International Energy Agency and highlights the significant dependence of Asian countries on Middle Eastern energy resources. Following South Korea, India with 29%, Pakistan with 27%, and Taiwan with 26% rank second to fourth.

The Vital Role of Middle Eastern Gas in Energy Supply

According to these statistics, any disruption in gas supply from the Middle East could have significant impacts on the energy needs of these countries. Especially in the current conditions where geopolitical and economic tensions in the region and the world are increasing, this dependence could become a serious challenge for energy security. Bangladesh and Singapore, each with an 18% share, follow next, while Belgium with 15% and Turkey with 13% are also added to the list of countries dependent on Middle Eastern gas.

Consequences of Disruption in Gas Supply

Additionally, Italy with 11% and Japan with 10% are other countries that depend on Middle Eastern gas. This deep dependence on Middle Eastern gas underscores the necessity of securing energy transit routes and also diversifying gas supply sources. In the event of any disruption in exports or strategic energy transit routes in this region, the cost of energy supply and pressure on global gas markets will significantly increase.

Overall, these figures clearly indicate that energy supply security for many Asian countries is heavily reliant on Middle Eastern gas, and any changes in the status of these resources could have widespread implications for global markets and the energy security of these countries.
