Large cooperation projects between Kuwait and China continue to make progress, with the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port entering the construction phase. In this context, an inauguration ceremony for the wastewater treatment project was recently held. Yang Xin, the Chinese ambassador to Kuwait, stated at the Global Development Dialogue event titled "China's Governance and Global Development," which took place on Tuesday, that these projects are being implemented following strategic decisions made by the leaderships of both countries, and that government agencies, relevant officials, and companies are working to advance them.

Future Plans and Existing Challenges

According to Yang, both sides are working on launching the third and fourth projects in the near future. However, regional developments have impacted construction plans, and particularly at the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, some construction materials and ships are waiting outside the Strait of Hormuz. This has necessitated adjustments to the construction schedules, although both sides remain committed to completing the projects on time. Yang stated that regular meetings and communications between the Kuwaiti side and Chinese project teams continue to monitor progress and coordinate efforts.

China's Concerns About Regional Situation

Yang expressed concern about the regional situation, stating that China is working through diplomatic channels to reduce tensions. He referred to recent diplomatic contacts, including discussions between Xi Jinping, the President of China, and the Sultan of Oman, which addressed bilateral relations and regional developments. In these negotiations, Xi highlighted China's proposals regarding security and stability in the region.

The Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, also met with delegations from Saudi Arabia and Iran on the same day to strengthen efforts to control tensions. Additionally, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced the dispatch of three representatives and special envoys to the Middle East and North Africa to support de-escalation efforts and address developments related to the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. Yang stated that China will continue its efforts to establish peace and stability and is more interested in diplomatic solutions than military options.

Regarding security and military relations with Kuwait, Yang mentioned that cooperation in various fields continues, and he described this type of interaction as very important for bilateral relations. Military relations are also developing through regular visits and exchanges between the armed forces of both countries. Yang referred to China's new development program, which emphasizes innovation, technology modernization, and high-quality development, stating that these priorities create new opportunities for expanding cooperation with Kuwait within the framework of the 2035 vision.
