Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, on Monday announced a set of government initiatives to address economic grievances and reduce the cost of living. These measures were proposed following widespread violence and looting across France and its overseas territories.

Economic Measures and Dialogue with Youth

In his speech to the public, Macron emphasized the need to distinguish between peaceful protesters and those involved in violence and vandalism. He also referred to the rising cost of living and fuel prices, stating that this issue is linked to recent conflicts in the Gulf. Macron announced international efforts to secure energy resources and stated that he would travel to Gulf countries on Monday morning.

He said, "These protesters expressed their concerns about the cost of living and fuel prices, which stem from the conflicts in the Gulf. I fully understand these concerns, and this issue has also been raised in several European capitals." Macron also pointed to the need for dialogue with youth and establishing structured dialogue with multiple stakeholders, stating that these discussions would begin this week.

Decisive Actions Against Violence

While Macron emphasized dialogue and addressing legitimate economic concerns, he firmly warned rioters and those participating in violence. He stated, "Nothing justifies this violence. We must strengthen accountability in society, and the country needs order and peace." Macron also announced that the Minister of Justice has ordered that legal cases be handled with utmost firmness.

Macron stressed that "prosecution must be exemplary... those who caused destruction must pay the price, and those who engaged in looting must compensate for the damage." The President of France called for an examination of information shortcomings to prevent similar violence in the future.

At the end of his speech, he urged citizens to refrain from political exploitation of street protests and emphasized the need for national unity and dialogue. Macron said, "Yes to dialogue, yes to short-term responses, but no, always no to any form of violence."
