The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman held the founding meeting of the Green Artificial Intelligence Alliance today. This meeting was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Public Services Regulatory Authority, and was attended by deputies and representatives from government entities and the private sector.
Goals and Programs of the Green Artificial Intelligence Alliance
During this meeting, the orientations and work programs of the alliance were discussed. These programs focus on the sustainable application of artificial intelligence technologies and high-performance computing. Additionally, their goal is to promote the use of renewable and green energy in the development and operation of these technologies.

This meeting approved the founding document of the Green Artificial Intelligence Alliance in Oman and established the technical committee of the alliance. The 2026 work plan was also reviewed, which outlines clear pathways for implementing the alliance's goals in future stages.
Creating a National Ecosystem and International Cooperation
The establishment of this alliance is a national initiative that brings together government entities, the private sector, and scientific, research, and investment institutions. Its goal is to create a national ecosystem to support green artificial intelligence and also to provide a knowledge platform to attract local and international partnerships.
Moreover, the alliance contributes to the development and implementation of green initiatives and projects with sustainable economic impact. Green artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly important on Oman’s path towards a sustainable digital economy and acts as a key factor in achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which considers the balance between economic development and environmental protection.
The adoption of low-emission artificial intelligence technologies and environmentally friendly high-performance computing helps improve energy efficiency and supports the transition towards a green digital economy capable of enhancing Oman’s competitiveness at regional and international levels.
Encouraging the Private Sector Towards Green Innovations
This meeting highlighted several objectives, including promoting the use of renewable and green energy resources in artificial intelligence technologies and high-performance computing. Additionally, supporting research and development in zero and low-emission computing and developing national capacities and capabilities in sustainable artificial intelligence were other goals of this meeting.
The alliance also seeks to encourage the private sector to adopt green solutions and technologies in their operations and is examining and launching incentives that support green innovations. These actions will help accelerate the adoption of clean technologies and connect them to the national ecosystem of a sustainable digital economy.
In future stages, the alliance also aims to expand its membership base and attract new members at local and international levels. These efforts will help strengthen its regional and international recognition as an effective and sustainable national initiative in the fields of green artificial intelligence and renewable energy.
