Preconditions for Reopening the Strait of Hormuz
General Safavi emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened under U.S. military pressure, stating: "Only Iran and Oman can regulate the mechanism for reopening this strait." He added that Iran is ready to reopen the Strait of Hormuz only if the maritime blockade is lifted. He clarified: "We did not close the Strait of Hormuz during the eight-year war, and today, given the circumstances, the reopening of this strait is contingent upon accepting Iran's conditions."
The senior advisor to the Supreme Commander also referred to the changing equations in favor of the Resistance Front and added that Iran and Arab countries can create strong security in the Persian Gulf based on common interests. He expressed regret over foreign interventions in regional meetings, stating: "We have no intention of territorial expansion or overthrowing Arab countries, and neighbors should be aware of Iran's goodwill."
