Hassan Qashqavi, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament, provided a different narrative regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz in his recent statements, emphasizing that the initiative in this strategic waterway remains in Iran's hands.

Analysis of Trump's Statements and Energy Realities

Qashqavi stated in this regard: "Certainly, Trump's statements regarding the Strait of Hormuz and its management and oil transfer are not true." He pointed out the contradiction between these statements and the existing realities in the global energy arena, asserting that the increase in fuel reserves being released in the U.S. and Europe indicates no change in the situation of the Strait of Hormuz.

This parliament representative continued: "Although oil prices may drop below $100 within a 24-hour period, these prices will not remain stable." He also referenced statements from U.S. officials claiming that there have been openings in oil transfer from the Strait of Hormuz, contrasting these claims with the existing realities in the energy market.

Human and Environmental Considerations of Iran

Qashqavi also referred to Iran's human and environmental considerations in the Strait of Hormuz, stating: "If we target an oil tanker, the resulting pollution deprives neighboring countries of the opportunity to use the Persian Gulf water for freshwater production." He emphasized that Iran adheres to humanitarian and ethical principles and does not want the people of neighboring countries to pay the price for hostile actions against Iran.

The spokesman for the National Security Commission of the Parliament noted that despite some claims, the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz and the use of alternative routes does not mean a reduction in the importance of this waterway. According to him, the actual situation of oil transfer, transportation and insurance costs, and the reactions of global markets all play a role in evaluating this matter.

Ultimately, Qashqavi emphasized that the initiative in the Strait of Hormuz remains in Iran's hands, and the country will continue to take necessary measures to safeguard its interests and those of neighboring countries.
