On Wednesday morning, the Houthis of Yemen launched two missiles at Aden International Airport, located in the southern port city of Yemen. According to the media office of the Aden Security Administration, fortunately, these attacks resulted in no casualties. This attack has occurred amid a significant increase in clashes in the region in recent weeks.
Background of the Conflicts and Recent Developments
In recent weeks, the Houthis have made significant advances along the Red Sea coast, while the Yemeni government, supported by Saudi Arabia, has launched counter-offensive operations. This operation, in cooperation with the air support of the Arab coalition, has regained control over areas surrounding the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait. Aden Airport holds special importance as the main international gateway for parts of Yemen not under Houthi control.

Missile Threats and Arab Coalition Response
On the same day, the Saudi-led coalition announced that a Houthi ballistic missile fired towards the city of Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia had been detected and destroyed. The coalition reported that missile threats originated from the Houthi capital, Sana'a, as well as from the provinces of Saada and Amran. Following this statement, the Houthi-affiliated television network “Al-Masirah” announced that Saudi forces had conducted an attack in areas of the central provinces of Ibb and Taiz, although the Arab coalition has not confirmed this.
These developments clearly indicate an escalation of tensions and conflicts in Yemen, a country that has been embroiled in civil war and humanitarian crisis since 2014. As the Houthis continue their attacks, the responses from the Arab coalition could lead to further tensions and exacerbate the humanitarian situation in this crisis-stricken country. The international community is deeply concerned about these developments and calls for an immediate halt to the fighting and the initiation of peace negotiations to resolve the Yemen crisis.
