The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) intends to launch an English-language awards platform in 2028 that will focus on artistic collaborations between Indian cinema and Hollywood. This initiative particularly highlights artistic collaborations among major film stars from both countries.

A New Platform for Artists

Andrew Timmons, one of the founders and the director of IIFA, elaborated on the future plans of the organization in an interview. He stated that this new platform will provide an opportunity to collaborate and celebrate the cinematic and artistic talents of India and America. According to Timmons, this event will serve as a global platform for entertainment and will bring together famous stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Kevin Hart, Billie Eilish, A. R. Rahman, Jennifer Lopez, and Hrithik Roshan.

Development of the IIFA Brand

Timmons also noted that this move represents the expansion of the IIFA brand and its connection to Indian cinema. He emphasized that the organization is striving to create a bridge between the two major film industries while maintaining its Indian identity. Timmons said, "We are not leaving our roots and will continue to celebrate Indian artists."

This announcement comes ahead of the fourth IIFA exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The 27th IIFA Weekend and Awards will take place on January 22 and 23, 2027, at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island. This event is organized in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi and Miral.

Timmons also added that the step towards a more international platform is part of IIFA's evolution from a Hindi film awards event to a global entertainment brand. As part of this evolution, IIFA plans to introduce a new award in its 2027 program for a Hollywood film that has been successful in India. This award will be based on the film's performance at the Indian box office, and an advisory board will participate in this selection.

Timmons concluded by saying, "This is a new and unprecedented initiative in the world." The presence of a Hollywood section in Abu Dhabi is expected to be a sign of IIFA's shift towards larger international aspirations.
