International Investigations and Reviews
Saudi officials, who arrested the attacking pilot after the plane landed, have begun collaborations with the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Oman, and Israel in this matter. Reports indicate that all possible scenarios, including terrorism and psychological disturbances, are being investigated. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, noted that it is still unclear who was behind this attack and stated that investigations are ongoing.
Netanyahu also spoke with the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, about this incident and agreed that Israel would participate in the investigations. Ultimately, Fly Dubai announced that it would suspend its flights to Israel while investigations continue and urged all parties to refrain from premature speculation.
Emirati officials also announced that they would initiate their own independent investigations into this incident. Witness passengers stated that the attacking pilot had assaulted the captain with a knife, after which the plane went into a nosedive. The injured captain, Smith Machhar, who is an Indian national, managed to send a distress signal, and ultimately the passengers entered the cockpit and stopped the attack.
Machhar has been praised for his bravery, and Netanyahu and Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, have introduced him as a hero. Modi also praised his courage and determination in a social media post.
