The International Law professor at Kurdistan University, during a specialized meeting, examined the requirements for collective security in the Middle East and announced that this security will not be achieved without cooperation among regional countries. He pointed out the existing challenges in this regard, mentioning the rivalries of great powers and the presence of foreign military bases that impact the security situation in the region.

Security Challenges in the Middle East

This university professor emphasized that the Middle East, as a sensitive and complex region, faces numerous security challenges, stating: "The competition among regional countries, especially the large and influential ones, undermines the necessary cooperation for establishing sustainable security." According to him, these rivalries directly affect the security and stability of the region and require special attention.

The Necessity of Regional Cooperation

He further pointed to the necessity of regional cooperation to address security challenges, stating: "Middle Eastern countries must move towards constructive cooperation instead of destructive rivalries. Otherwise, the existing problems will persist, and collective security will become an unattainable wish." The International Law professor emphasized that countries in this region should leverage each other's experiences and engage in dialogue and cooperation in various fields.

The Role of Great Powers

This professor also referred to the impact of great powers on the security of the Middle East, stating: "The presence of foreign military bases in the region has, in a way, created tension and distrust among regional countries. This not only harms the national security of the countries but also leads to instability at the regional level." He also added that Middle Eastern countries should seek solutions to mitigate these negative impacts and move towards diplomacy and joint cooperation.

According to the International Law professor, only through serious and constructive cooperation can collective security be achieved in the Middle East, and in this regard, there is a need for strong political will and solidarity among regional countries. Ultimately, he emphasized that sustainable security in the Middle East is only possible through convergence and cooperation among these countries.
