On Sunday, November 1, Iran began negotiations with Qatari mediators in Doha, marking the third consecutive day of these talks. These negotiations are taking place amid concerns about a renewed escalation of hostilities following the U.S. midterm elections on November 3.
Purpose of the Negotiations and Iran's Position
Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, stated that the purpose of these negotiations is to continue consultations with Qatari mediators, adding that Tehran is prepared for "both diplomacy and defense." Araghchi also mentioned that discussions are ongoing regarding a "two-day proposal," but no final outcome has been reached yet.

In an interview with state media, Araghchi stated: "We are doing our best in this process and hope that the other side acts rationally and prefers diplomacy over other paths." He also referred to a proposal for reopening the Strait of Hormuz within two days following a potential agreement with Washington.
Impacts of the War and Iran's Military Approach
The war, which has been ongoing for eight months, has had widespread impacts on global oil supply and the situation in the Middle East. Iran has repeatedly stated that it will respond to any new attacks against American and Israeli targets in neighboring countries. Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, called on the armed forces on Saturday to be prepared for any attacks, while the military has also announced measures to enhance its readiness.
Meanwhile, Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated that Trump has not yet made a decision to launch new attacks against Iran, but he prefers to resolve the conflict diplomatically.
Qatari mediators traveled to Tehran on Friday to discuss with Iranian officials and then moved the negotiations to Doha. These talks are being conducted under regular coordination with Washington.
As Iran and Qatari mediators strive to reach an agreement, the international community is closely monitoring the developments of these negotiations to see if a sustainable peace in the region is achievable.
