Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, emphasized in a meeting with foreign ambassadors that there is no military solution to the United States' war against the Islamic Republic. These remarks were made as talks to end this conflict have reached a deadlock.

Failure of Military Attacks

The intense airstrikes by the United States and Israel that began in late February have failed to lead to a decisive end to this war. In recent weeks, the United States has shifted its focus from military operations to economic pressure.

War in the Strait of Hormuz

The main point of contention relates to Iran's efforts to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for the transportation of oil and gas from the Persian Gulf. In this context, a British maritime agency reported that another tanker was damaged in the area by an unknown project on Sunday.

Abbas Araghchi said: "If our enemies choose the path of military confrontation again, our response will be stronger than before, and we will defend ourselves with greater power." He added: "There is no military solution or solution based on new sanctions, and only negotiations based on justice and fairness can end this conflict."

The two sides signed an agreement in June that provided a framework for a permanent solution, but Iran's attacks on ships in Hormuz led to the resumption of U.S. military operations.

Since the beginning of the war, Iran has sought to impose its control over this vital trade route and has attacked vessels that pass through the strait without its permission. The United States has also imposed a reciprocal blockade on Iranian ports and has attacked ships it accuses of violating this blockade.

On Sunday, the British Maritime Security Agency announced that a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz "reported being damaged by an unknown project, which caused damage to the engine room," although the crew was safe and no environmental impact was recorded.

Iranian and American officials engaged in indirect talks last week on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, with Tehran presenting seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran is calling for a ceasefire across the Middle East, the release of its assets abroad, the lifting of sanctions on the oil sector, and the end of the U.S. maritime blockade. However, Donald Trump has rejected this proposal while keeping the doors open for dialogue or renewed military operations.
