Two Israeli soldiers were killed on Friday in an armed attack near "Hebron" in the West Bank. This attack, carried out by Palestinian assailants, was met with a harsh response from Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, who threatened to conduct a large military operation in the area.

Details of the Attack and Reactions

According to reports, three other soldiers were also injured in this attack. This incident occurred amid escalating violence in the West Bank, particularly following recent attacks by Hamas. After visiting the scene, Netanyahu announced that the Israeli army would respond decisively to this attack and intends to evacuate residents of a neighborhood in Hebron from where, according to him, the assailants operated.

Military History and Consequences

In his statements, Netanyahu referred to past military operations and stated that Israel would use similar tactics to those employed in military operations in 2025, aiming to evacuate residents and destroy terrorist infrastructure. These remarks have faced severe criticism from human rights organizations, which view these actions as violations of human rights and war crimes.

Following Netanyahu's statements, Israeli bulldozers began demolishing homes at the scene. Local residents reported that these homes had no connection to the assailants. The Israeli army has not provided a response regarding this matter.

Political Conditions Before Israeli Elections

This attack occurred just days before the Israeli elections on October 27. Polls indicate that Netanyahu and his main rival, Gadi Eisenkot, may not be able to secure a majority in parliament. Netanyahu's government has focused on expanding settlements in recent years, which has drawn significant criticism from the international community.

In recent weeks, armed assailants and residents of Israeli settlements have also heavily attacked Palestinians, resulting in at least three Palestinians being killed and several others injured. European journalists and diplomats have also not been spared from this violence.

In this context, attacks by Palestinians on Israeli soldiers and civilians have increased in recent months. In September, an assailant shot an Israeli man near a settlement in the West Bank, resulting in his death. The suspected assailant was later arrested.
