On Friday, Iran warned about disruptions in regional flights and announced that if Iranian airlines are denied access to flight and airport services, other countries may also face restrictions. This warning came after several regional airports halted Iranian flights in response to new U.S. sanctions.
Iran's Position on Sanctions
Mohammad Mokhber, senior advisor to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, wrote in a post on the social media platform X: "If Iran cannot fly and receive airport services, no country in the region will be able to do so either." He did not mention details on how Iran would act in this regard.

Mokhber, who was appointed as interim president in 2024 following the death of Ebrahim Raisi in a plane crash, stated that Iran will pay attention to neighboring countries that align with the United States in implementing these hostile policies. He emphasized: "Our strategy in this regard is clear: flying in the region is either free for all or for no one."
Possible Consequences for Regional Flights
This warning from Iran could lead to increased tensions in relations between Tehran and its neighboring countries. Currently, Iranian flights are under pressure due to U.S. sanctions and concerns about flight safety. Restrictions imposed on Iranian flights could lead to a decrease in trade and tourism exchanges in the region, which in turn will impact the economies of neighboring countries.
Iran has clearly stated that if access to airport services is denied, other countries must also accept the consequences. This approach could lead to a cycle of tension that will benefit neither side. Given recent developments, the future of regional flights and diplomatic relations between Iran and its neighbors will be affected.
