Ali Karimi Maqam, Iran's representative at the UN Third Committee, in response to the recent statements by the representative of Bahrain against Iran, articulated his country's positions regarding the right to self-defense and regional security. He emphasized that Iran exercises its inherent right to defend itself against enemy aggressions, telling the Bahraini representative: "There are only two options. Either we build security together in the region or we will endure insecurity together."
Regional Security Depends on Cooperation
Ali Karimi Maqam further emphasized the importance of joint cooperation among regional countries, stating: "Experience has shown that insecurity in one country can lead to insecurity in others. Therefore, we must collectively focus on ensuring sustainable security in the region." He also noted that Iran is always ready to cooperate with its neighbors to establish stability and security.

Consequences of Insecurity for the Region
Kariami Maqam pointed out that a lack of cooperation and the continuation of crises will only lead to increased tensions and regional instability. He added: "If regional countries cannot reach a common agreement on security, the consequences will affect not only those countries but the entire region and even beyond."
These statements come at a time when tensions in the Persian Gulf region, especially between Iran and some Arab countries, continue. The Iranian representative at the UN, referring to this situation, emphasized the necessity of diplomacy and constructive dialogue to resolve issues, noting that only through positive interaction can positive results be achieved.
At the end, Ali Karimi Maqam reminded the Bahraini representative that history and geography remind us that we live in a shared region and must work hand in hand towards security and stability for a better future.
