According to Al-Zaydi, through dialogue, Iraq can play a mediating role among regional powers. This requires a balanced approach in foreign relations and avoiding alignment with rival regional factions. The Prime Minister of Iraq emphasized the necessity of adopting a policy that keeps Iraq away from conflicts.
The Impact of Market Disruptions on the Regional Economy
Al-Zaydi referred to severe disruptions in markets, trade, and energy supply following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that these issues have caused serious damage to the economies of the region. He emphasized the need to diversify trade routes so that trade does not remain dependent on a single route or exceptional conditions.
In Al-Zaydi's opinion, the stability of Iraq remains the foundation for the success of any participation in the region. He stressed that investment requires a stable country, transparent laws, and capable institutions to protect rights and enforce contracts.
The Prime Minister of Iraq also introduced the fight against corruption, the facilitation of administrative processes, and the strengthening of the rule of law as essential requirements for attracting investment and enhancing economic independence. Al-Zaydi emphasized that these reforms are not only considered internal measures but are also necessary for attracting foreign investments.
