Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian Foreign Minister, stated in an interview regarding the memorandum of understanding signed with Oman that this understanding will help determine new transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that this action alone does not mean the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but the main goal of this meeting is to create arrangements to facilitate maritime traffic in this region.

Emphasis on Maritime Security

Amir-Abdollahian further stated that the Strait of Hormuz, as one of the vital maritime transport routes in the world, has always been of interest to various countries, and Iran emphasizes the security of this region. According to him, this memorandum of understanding is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation with Oman and enhancing maritime security in the region.

Economic and Political Consequences

This memorandum of understanding could have positive economic impacts on maritime trade between Iran and Oman. As the Strait of Hormuz is recognized as one of the vital centers of global trade, creating new arrangements could facilitate trade exchanges and enhance the level of economic cooperation between the two countries. This action also reflects Iran's willingness for multilateral cooperation and strengthening relations with its neighbors.

The Iranian Foreign Minister concluded by noting that efforts to create a safe and stable environment in the Strait of Hormuz continue, and this memorandum of understanding is an important step towards achieving this goal.
