On Monday, Israel announced that it would allow the shipment of commercial goods to Gaza after a several-day halt due to a financial dispute with Hamas and merchants. This action is a key way to provide food and other essential items to this region in need of humanitarian assistance.

Details of Israel's Decision

The Israeli government made this decision after merchants reported that Hamas officials had canceled their requests for a payment of 10,000 shekels (equivalent to $3,225) per truck. The Israeli military organization responsible for humanitarian affairs in Gaza stated: "The resumption of coordination is fully in line with Israel's commitment to the humanitarian provisions of the ceasefire agreement."

New Precautions in Goods Shipment

This agency also noted that merchants' accounts have not been independently verified and that shipments will occur gradually, prioritizing essential goods, especially with winter approaching. Oversight of this process will be tightened to ensure that payments are made only through documented bank transfers, and any merchant who pays Hamas will be removed from the system.

Hamas has also stated that the 10,000 shekel fee is a voluntary contribution from affluent Gazans to a national fund to support those in need in this war-torn land. However, many residents of Gaza remain dependent on humanitarian aid, while severe restrictions on aid delivery persist after three years of war and repeated displacements.

Security Situation in Gaza

Local health officials reported on Monday that at least five Palestinians, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed in separate Israeli attacks in Gaza and Khan Younis. The Israeli army did not immediately comment on this matter. Israel claims that Hamas continues its military activities and conducts attacks in violation of the ceasefire, while Hamas accuses Israel of violating the agreement.

According to Gaza health officials, since the ceasefire in October 2025, approximately 1,500 Palestinians have died due to Israeli fire, while Israel has stated that four of its soldiers have been killed by militants in Gaza during the same period.
