Kuwait emphasized the importance of enhancing the complementarity between international justice mechanisms and national judicial systems at the UN General Assembly and stated that the fight against impunity is a shared responsibility that requires effective international cooperation with full respect for the sovereignty and judicial authority of countries.

Abuhameed further stated, "Justice is essential for achieving sustainable peace, and the fight against impunity ensures that serious crimes and violations are not repeated." He also emphasized the importance of effectively completing the remaining tasks of judicial mechanisms, including monitoring the implementation of judgments, protecting witnesses and victims, and preserving judicial archives.
Condemnation of Iran's Aggressions and International Responsibilities
Abuhameed, referring to the victims of serious crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, considered the establishment of two international courts under Security Council resolutions a milestone in establishing the principle of individual criminal responsibility. He also emphasized the necessity of not applying the principles of international criminal justice selectively and called for accountability for those responsible for serious violations against civilians under international law.
In this context, he urged the international community to take responsibility for the war crimes committed by Israeli occupying forces against the Palestinian people. Abuhameed stressed the need to end Israel's occupation of all Arab territories and establish an independent Palestinian state with borders of June 4, 1967, and East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also reiterated Kuwait's strong condemnation of Iran's aggressions that began on February 28, 2026, describing these actions as a clear violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and territorial integrity and a direct threat to the security of its citizens and residents. Abuhameed called on Iran to respect international law and the UN Charter and emphasized the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 2817 and other international resolutions that condemn Iran's aggressions.
