Massoud Pezeshkian, in a message on the occasion of World Maritime Day, emphasized the special position of the Strait of Hormuz in the security and economy of the region and the world, urging regional countries to responsibly maintain stability and common interests. He considered the sustainable security of the Persian Gulf and its waterways to be dependent on the cooperation and responsibility of the regional countries.

The Role of Maritime Navigation in Economy and Security

Pezeshkian emphasized that the sea is not just a body of water for Iran, but a part of its history, identity, and life, and is considered one of the most important economic capacities of the country. The Iranian nation has lived with the sea for a long time and has utilized it for trade and prosperity. Today, the maritime industry holds special significance as one of the key foundations for economic growth and connection with the world.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, with its extensive northern and southern coasts and its location on important communication routes, has become a hub for maritime economy and trade in the world. This country, thanks to its sailors, holds a valuable position in this industry and can share its experiences with others.

Cooperation and Responsibility of Regional Countries

Pezeshkian stated that security and development are inseparable; the security of the sea, ports, and communication lines provides the groundwork for trade and economic activity, and economic development also strengthens the national position and capacity of the country. He emphasized the responsibility of the Islamic Republic in maintaining the security and stability of the region's waterways, stating that Iran, relying on the capabilities and experience of its naval forces, diligently pursues its responsibility in ensuring maritime security and trade.

The Strait of Hormuz, as one of the most important maritime passages, holds a special place in the security and economy of the region and the world. Pezeshkian believes that the sustainable security of the Persian Gulf and its waterways is primarily dependent on the cooperation and responsibility of the regional countries. He also referred to the noble efforts of sailors who kept the vital arteries of the country moving over the past year.

At the same time, Pezeshkian emphasized the need to pay attention to the sea as an important arena for science and environmental protection, stating that the future of sea-centered development requires universities, research, technology, and serious attention to the marine environment. He stressed the importance of better understanding the seas, developing modern technologies, and protecting marine ecosystems, calling on the private sector and universities to collaborate in this regard.

In conclusion, Pezeshkian honored the memory of all martyrs in the field of the sea and fallen sailors, wishing for the pride and prosperity of dear Iran.
