The olive harvest in the West Bank began on Tuesday, coinciding with an increase in attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinians and olive groves. This situation resulted in injuries to several Palestinians and damage to olive trees.
Attacks in Aqaba
In the town of Aqaba, located southeast of Nablus, two Palestinians were injured following an attack by settlers. According to reports, a 23-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. This incident occurred while a group of Palestinians was being attacked. Additionally, a photojournalist named Jaafar Ashtiyeh, 58, was also attacked and injured while covering these events.

Obstruction of Aid
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced that settlers attempted to prevent ambulances from reaching the injured in Aqaba. Additionally, according to published reports, settlers set fire to four cars parked in front of the homes of residents in western Aqaba.
Videos that appear to depict these incidents have been shared on social media. One of these videos shows Jaafar Ashtiyeh being taken to the hospital.
The olive harvest is one of the most important economic activities for Palestinians in this region and takes place every autumn. However, in recent years, this process has faced serious challenges, especially regarding security and the protection of agricultural lands.
Social and Economic Consequences
The ongoing attacks by settlers not only affect the personal safety of Palestinians but also cast a shadow over their economic activities. Olive groves are not only a source of income for many families but also symbolize the culture and identity of Palestinians. Damage to these trees can have long-term consequences for the livelihoods and daily lives of Palestinians.
As the international community strives to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, such incidents highlight the ongoing challenges in the region and underscore the need for greater attention to human rights and the security of Palestinians.
