The Sultanate of Oman has secured the right to host the 23rd World Wind Energy Conference (WWEC 2027), marking an important step in the development of renewable energy in the country and supporting its efforts to expand wind energy projects and diversify its energy mix.

International Collaborations in Wind Energy Development

This event will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and in collaboration with the Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP). The conference will provide an excellent opportunity to showcase Oman's advancements in wind energy projects and introduce investment opportunities in this sector.

The conference will gather policymakers, industry leaders, investors, developers, researchers, and renewable energy experts from around the world to discuss the future of wind energy and strengthen international partnerships.

International Trust in Oman

Mohsen bin Hamad Al-Hadraami, Deputy Minister of Energy and Minerals of Oman, stated that hosting WWEC 2027 reflects global confidence in Oman's vision and its advancements in developing the renewable energy sector. He added that the Ministry of Energy is working on developing a diverse and flexible energy mix, enhancing energy security, and creating a supportive environment for investment in renewable energy projects.

Oman’s renewable energy project planning includes about 19 solar and wind energy projects by 2032, with a total projected wind energy capacity of over 4,000 megawatts.

The Deputy Minister of Energy and Minerals also emphasized the importance of creating an integrated ecosystem to attract investment and technology, which will aid in developing value chains and national capabilities.

Mita Saif Al-Mahrouqi, Oman’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, welcomed the trust expressed in Oman by the World Wind Energy Association and its partners, stating, "This decision confirms Oman's position as a reliable partner for investment and international collaborations."

Ahmed bin Salem Al-Abri, CEO of PWP, referred to Oman's success in securing the right to host WWEC 2027 as a sign of the country's advancements in renewable energy, adding that Oman will become a regional hub for the development of wind energy projects due to its strategic location.
