The National Aviation Strategy Committee 2040 in Oman held its third meeting chaired by Engineer Nayef bin Ali Al-Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority and Head of the Committee, in the presence of several officials and representatives of member entities from ministries, institutions, and companies active in the aviation sector.
Review of Progress and Previous Recommendations
In this meeting, the committee addressed the most significant developments in the implementation of the National Aviation Strategy 2040 initiatives and reviewed the progress made in initiatives and programs. It also followed up on the implementation of previous decisions and recommendations to strengthen the effectiveness of the governance and oversight framework and ensure alignment of efforts among various entities.

Follow-up on Subcommittees
The committee continued to follow up on the latest developments in the work of its subcommittees, particularly the Air Communications Development Committee, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism. This committee has held two meetings so far to monitor initiatives and factors related to improving air communications, increasing flight network efficiency, and supporting the growth of air traffic in line with strategic objectives.
Additionally, the committee reviewed the performance of passenger and cargo traffic indicators until the end of August 2026, as well as development programs and plans to increase passenger and cargo traffic in the last quarter of the current year and the first half of 2027.
This review highlights the importance of continuing to seize available opportunities in the aviation sector and supporting the growth of air traffic in a way that enhances the competitiveness of this sector and increases its share in the national economy. These actions will also contribute to Oman's goals in tourism, logistics, and investment.
This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to advance the implementation of the National Aviation Strategy 2040 through an integrated governance framework that includes subcommittees and clear mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of initiatives and measuring progress based on defined performance indicators.
It is worth noting that the National Aviation Strategy 2040 aims to create a more competitive and sustainable aviation sector and strengthen its role as a key player in economic diversification while supporting the tourism, logistics, trade, and investment sectors and contributing to the realization of Oman Vision 2040.
