The Elections Committee of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), in its first meeting chaired by Engineer Ghaleb Said Al-Mamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, reviewed the readiness of the electoral system to organize the election process of the chamber.

Review of Electoral System Requirements

This meeting focused on examining the necessary requirements for establishing an integrated electoral system that ensures elections are held in accordance with approved legal frameworks and regulations, thereby increasing the business community's participation in electing their representatives in the chamber.

During this meeting, the committee also reviewed key requirements and preparations related to the electoral process, the work plan for the next phase, and the organizational and technical steps necessary for implementing various stages. It also discussed the roles and responsibilities assigned to the committee and the mechanisms for coordination and integration among the relevant entities to enhance the coherence of efforts, increase readiness levels, and ensure transparency and smoothness of processes.

Attention to Technical and Digital Aspects

The committee also examined the timeline of the electoral process stages, organizational actions, and related deadlines, with dates and details regarding the electoral process to be announced soon according to approved procedures so that the business community can prepare for participation in various stages.

In this regard, the committee has paid special attention to the technical and digital aspects of the electoral process, discussing mechanisms for employing modern electronic systems and methods to facilitate the voting process and enhance its efficiency and speed.

These actions follow recent reforms in the regulatory regulations related to the Elections Committees of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which granted the committee permission to use electronic voting devices and other electronic systems in the electoral process and also approved remote voting systems.

Engineer Ghaleb emphasized that the committee is advancing the completion of various organizational, technical, and technological requirements of the electoral process to create a transparent and orderly electoral environment and facilitate voters' rights easily.

The committee also recognizes the importance of role integration among relevant entities and increasing readiness levels at all stages of the electoral process, which contributes to the effective and organized implementation of the electoral process.
