The Russian government welcomed the proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump to halt retaliatory attacks on the energy infrastructure of Russia and Ukraine. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, described the proposal as a very good idea on Tuesday and introduced it as an "energy ceasefire."
Russia's Conditions for Ceasefire
Peskov clarified that the Kremlin has not yet reached an agreement on this proposal and added that, in addition to halting Ukraine's attacks on Russian refineries, Russia must also retain its right to export oil without hindrance. He emphasized: "It is necessary to ensure that commercial transport and navigation here, including for oil tankers, are safely guaranteed." Peskov also noted that Russia will be in contact with Washington.

Ukraine's Reaction to Trump's Proposal
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to Trump's proposal in a nighttime speech, stating that Ukraine is ready to take steps to de-escalate tensions if there are real guarantees from American partners for a ceasefire. Zelensky noted: "If this can be the first step towards reducing tensions, Ukraine is ready to support this de-escalation."
Meanwhile, on the eastern fronts of Ukraine, Ukrainian forces have reported liberating over 10 square kilometers of occupied territory and are working to relieve pressure on key cities like Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. This operation is aimed at liberating areas under Russian occupation.
In response to recent Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Zelensky announced that Ukraine targeted an oil refinery in the Samara region of Russia. He emphasized: "Russia continues its attacks on our energy sector and critical infrastructure, and our responses to these attacks will be tangible."
On the other hand, Russia criticized France's security initiative aimed at placing European countries under nuclear protection. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, described this action as "reckless" and stated that this issue needs to be controlled.
