Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, expressed hope on Monday for the support of Middle Eastern countries for Moscow's proposals to create a regional framework for security, emphasizing that direct dialogues could help ensure security in the Persian Gulf. This remark was made during a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart, Youssef Raji.

Russia's Proposal for Regional Dialogues

Lavrov stated at this meeting: "We very much hope that our friends in the region, whether in Saudi Arabia and other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council or the Iranian side, will take our long-standing initiative to start practical and specific dialogues about the formation of a collective security system in the Persian Gulf and its neighboring areas seriously and take action to realize it." These statements reflect Moscow's desire to play a more active role in the security issues of the Persian Gulf region.

The Current Situation in the Persian Gulf and Its Consequences

During the meeting, the foreign ministers of Russia and Lebanon discussed the current situation in the region, addressing developments in the Persian Gulf, Syria, and surrounding areas, as well as the situation in Palestine. Lavrov remarked in this context: "Israel's actions in Palestine, which create realities on the ground and directly contradict the United Nations' decision to establish a Palestinian state, are particularly concerning." These concerns clearly indicate the challenges facing security and stability in the region.

These remarks not only emphasize the importance of regional dialogues but also point to the challenges and complexities of regional security. In a context where tensions and disputes exist in the Persian Gulf and surrounding areas, efforts to establish a collective security system could lead to a reduction in tensions and an increase in regional cooperation.

Overall, Lavrov and Raji highlighted the importance of the unity of regional countries in addressing common challenges and stressed the need for constructive dialogues. It seems that this type of interaction could help create a foundation for stability and security in the Persian Gulf and the areas connected to it.
