Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, during a roundtable with ambassadors about Ukraine, deemed the statements regarding a supposed deal between the U.S. and Russia concerning Iran and Ukraine as incorrect. Lavrov clarified that the United States has never made a proposal to Russia to offer concessions in exchange for assistance in resolving the Iran crisis.

Rejection of Deal Claims

Lavrov emphasized that such speculations are baseless, stating: "We have clearly stated that this is not a place for bargaining. The American side has never proposed such a deal, and I believe they are aware of this approach and know that our policies are not compatible with this kind of behavior."

The Russian Foreign Minister also referred to the situation in Iran, stating that he expects positive developments in this regard, considering the efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Lavrov mentioned the agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council member states and Iraq to hold a meeting in Oman, which has been postponed for a few days due to some issues.

Regional Impacts

Lavrov further pointed out concerns that some countries have regarding the improvement of relations among the Gulf coastal states. He stated: "Some countries wish to maintain the problems among these countries and continue the conflicts, which harms the civilian population."

He also discussed with representatives from Iran and Arab countries during the recent BRICS meeting in India and emphasized the importance of supporting regional processes. According to Lavrov, all these efforts demonstrate the will of the countries in the region to resolve their issues without dependence on foreign powers that seek their own geopolitical objectives.

The Russian Foreign Minister stated: "We will support this process in every possible way and will also support ongoing collaborations involving Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. These processes reflect the regional will to reach a resolution of their own issues."
