Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, stated in an interview with an Iraqi network that indirect negotiations with the United States are ongoing through intermediary countries such as Pakistan and Qatar. He emphasized the importance of adhering to previous commitments while referring to a seven-day plan presented to the American side, stating that this diplomatic path remains open.

Progress in negotiations and Iran's conditions

Araghchi confirmed the negotiations with the United States and mentioned the specific conditions set by Iran, stating that the Strait of Hormuz was supposed to be fully opened on the sixth day of the negotiations. He added that the American side agreed to these conditions but wanted to add a few more clauses to them.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, referring to past experiences in negotiations with the U.S., emphasized that trusting the other side is challenging. He said: "We entered into three rounds of negotiations with the American side, and all three previous rounds ended in war against us. Therefore, there is no trust in the American approach." Araghchi also noted that if the Americans adhere to their commitments, Iran is ready to engage in negotiations on other issues.

Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea

In response to questions about recent tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and claims regarding increased tensions in the Red Sea, Araghchi clarified Iran's position, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to ships until an agreement is reached. He also pointed out that this strait is located in the territorial waters of Iran and Oman and that this matter should be considered.

He said: "The U.S. claims that the strait is open, but ships are facing numerous problems. We will not yield to either economic sanctions or military threats, and the only appropriate solution is diplomacy." Araghchi stressed that the American side must refrain from its actions and adhere to agreements for negotiations to continue.

In conclusion, Araghchi emphasized that Iran will not succumb to pressures and sanctions and presented diplomacy as the only appropriate solution for advancing international and regional issues.
