Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, emphasized the necessity of finding diplomatic solutions to regional crises and strongly condemned Israel's actions and violations in Gaza during his speech at the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The Necessity of Diplomacy and Dialogue

In his opening remarks, Sheikh Tamim stated that the global economy should not become a tool for political pressure, as such crises lead to increased prices of food and medicine, affecting people who have no connection to the causes of the conflicts. Regarding the Gulf crisis, he expressed Qatar's strong belief that this crisis can be resolved through diplomacy and particularly emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz for navigation and returning to negotiations to prevent war.

Condemnation of Crimes in Gaza

The Emir of Qatar described the situation in Gaza as "genocide in the literal sense" and "a stain on the forehead of humanity," warning that future generations will be astonished by "the vast gap between the catastrophe and the level of international response to stop it." He referred to the ongoing crisis and stated that Israeli leaders openly support the displacement of the population of Gaza.

Sheikh Tamim also addressed the criticisms of efforts to explain international opposition to Israel's violations and attacks through anti-Semitic accusations or conspiracy theories, emphasizing that these claims are false and illogical.

The Emir of Qatar reiterated his country's commitment to mediation, stating, "From day one, the Qatari government has never wavered in its mediation efforts to end the bloodshed, alleviate the suffering of civilians, and secure the freedom of prisoners and detainees until a ceasefire is achieved." He continued that Qatar is working to solidify the ceasefire and move towards sustainable peace.

He also called for Israel to fulfill its commitments under the ceasefire agreement and emphasized the responsibility of the international community to ensure the implementation of this agreement, criticizing the continued occupation and violence in the region.

In conclusion, Sheikh Tamim emphasized Qatar's commitment to peaceful coexistence and dialogue, stating, "Peaceful coexistence and dialogue is the only path that does not lead to victory or defeat. Qatar will always seek peace."
