Iran has stated that it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States reduces military pressures and lifts the blockade. A senior Iranian official stated that this action depends on diplomatic engagement and the official declaration of the United States' intention to resolve issues through negotiation.
Iran's warning to the United States
According to this official, Iran's Central Military Command announced on Sunday that it is aware of the United States' plans to resume military operations with the support of regional countries and considers this action a serious threat. The Iranian official noted that any military action by Washington could lead to an unrestricted reaction from Tehran, without regard for the consequences.

He added, "The United States must declare that it wants to resolve the issue diplomatically, formalize this matter, and then agree on a timeline to advance this process." This official also emphasized that the Iranian delegation present at the United Nations General Assembly in New York has full authority to revive diplomacy with the United States.
No meeting between the Iranian President and the American counterpart
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, who left Tehran for New York on Tuesday morning, is very unlikely to meet with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, at the United Nations headquarters. This Iranian official also stated that details regarding an agreement to end hostilities with Washington could be discussed through intermediaries in New York.
This official stated that Tehran's proposal to the United States was sent through intermediaries on September 16. He added, "The United Nations General Assembly is a golden opportunity for the United States to return to diplomacy" and emphasized that Tehran would welcome the revival of diplomacy if Washington takes tangible steps in this direction.
