The Government of Oman continues to monitor prices and economic markets to control the impacts arising from global developments. Dr. Nasser bin Rashid Al-Maawali, Deputy Minister of Economy, stated in a statement that the average inflation rate in Oman from January to August 2026 has reached about 2.9%, while this rate is predicted to be around 4.7% globally.

Continuous Monitoring of Economic Indicators

Al-Maawali acknowledged that inflation in the global economy is increasingly linked to changes in international markets. This issue has arisen due to increased economic interconnections, cross-supply chains, and trade and investment shifts. These factors cause the impact of global developments to spread differently across various countries and economic sectors.

Geographical Impacts and Supply Chain

Dr. Al-Maawali emphasized that geographical developments and changes affecting supply chains in the region have impacted transportation costs and the supply of goods and services globally. Given Oman's close economic ties to international markets, the country is also affected by these developments.

He added that the Government of Oman continuously monitors price movements, markets, and supply chains, adopting appropriate policies and measures to maintain market stability and ensure the availability of goods. The aim of these actions is to reduce the impact of external fluctuations on the national economy and support social stability and sustainable growth.

The Deputy Minister of Economy also explained that the ministry, in coordination with relevant entities and economic partners, is working to strengthen Oman's economic and institutional capabilities and enhance the resilience of the national economy against external developments and mitigate their effects.

Al-Maawali stressed that addressing inflation is part of an integrated economic and social approach that aligns with the government's fiscal and monetary policies. This approach focuses on balancing price stability and sustainable growth, supporting private sector activities, and strengthening the resilience of supply chains.
