The Council of Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in an official statement, called for the designation of the Ansar Allah group as a terrorist organization. This statement was released following the adoption of a presidential statement by the United Nations Security Council on October 15, condemning the ongoing attacks by Ansar Allah against Saudi Arabia. The Gulf Cooperation Council emphasized the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen and the territorial integrity of the country, and expressed its support for efforts to achieve a political solution to the Yemen crisis.
Support for a Political Solution and Emphasis on Key References
The council reminded in its statement that achieving a political solution must be based on three key references. These references are: the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue in Yemen, the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative, and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. The Council of Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council also called on the international community to list Ansar Allah among terrorist groups and to treat it like other terrorist organizations.
The Need to Stop Support for Ansar Allah
In the continuation of the statement, the Gulf Cooperation Council emphasized that all support that enables Ansar Allah to access missiles and drones must be halted. The Council of Ministers also stressed the necessity of implementing the United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Yemen and the Ansar Allah rebellion. The council called on the United Nations and the international community to ensure the strict implementation of the arms embargo against Ansar Allah.
The Gulf Cooperation Council also emphasized the complete solidarity of member states with Saudi Arabia, stating that these countries stand alongside Riyadh and support all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to maintain its sovereignty, security, and interests. The council clarified that the security of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council is an interconnected and indivisible entity, and any attack on one of the member countries, based on the mutual defense agreement, is considered a direct attack against all member countries.
