Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan held an emergency meeting in Riyadh on Monday to discuss the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the escalation of conflicts in Yemen. This meeting was held within the framework of the trilateral defense pact between these countries, with senior military and diplomatic officials from all three countries in attendance.

Presence of Senior Officials

In this meeting, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, and the Commander of the Saudi Army, Fayyad bin Hamid Al-Ruwaili, hosted their Turkish and Pakistani counterparts. Additionally, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also met with the participating delegations to discuss the current situation.

Security Challenges in Yemen

The emergency meeting among these three countries specifically focused on the security situation in Yemen and the threats posed by Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. Recent Houthi attacks have raised serious concerns about the security of Saudi borders, prompting the country to strengthen its security measures. The Houthis, accused of being supported by Iran, have increased their military activities in recent years and continuously target Saudi infrastructure.

Saudi Arabia, as one of the main countries in the anti-Houthi coalition, has requested Turkey and Pakistan to enhance their cooperation in this regard, particularly in military and intelligence fields. This meeting reflects the regional countries' willingness to collaborate more closely to address common threats.

Dimensions of Trilateral Cooperation

The trilateral defense pact among Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan not only helps strengthen regional security but can also lead to stability in Yemen and a reduction of tensions among regional countries. This meeting is recognized as an important step towards greater solidarity among Islamic countries in the face of security challenges.

Given recent developments, this meeting could have deeper impacts on security and military policies in the Middle East and lead to enhanced military cooperation among these countries. As tensions in the region have increased, multilateral cooperation could provide a solution to existing crises.
