Topics Discussed at the Assembly
The United Nations was established in 1945 and has grown to include 193 member countries. In addition, two non-member observer states, the Vatican and the State of Palestine, as well as the European Union, have the right to speak at this assembly. The theme for this year's session is "Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All."

One of the main topics expected to be discussed at this session is artificial intelligence. António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, has recently stated that there are warnings about the rapid development of this technology, and leading countries in this field must reach agreements on common regulations to prevent potential risks.
Iran's Situation and Regional Crises
The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, is scheduled to speak at this assembly. However, the status of his travel to New York remains uncertain, and some officials have reported the possibility of visa denials for members of the Iranian delegation. Alongside this, the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Israel will also participate in this assembly, but no progress is expected in negotiations regarding regional crises.
The issue of Ukraine will also be covered at this assembly. Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, is seeking global support for his country. In this context, it is anticipated that the UN Security Council will hold a meeting regarding Ukraine, although practical action in this regard is difficult due to Russia's veto power.
Finally, the issue of Israel and the Palestinians is also on the agenda of the assembly. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, will be one of the main speakers at this session, and the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, is likely to participate via video. Diplomats also expect a meeting to promote a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians, but progress in this area seems unlikely.
Alongside these topics, the process of selecting a new UN Secretary-General will also be discussed at this assembly. Guterres will conclude his second term on December 31, 2026, and this matter will likely be addressed on the sidelines of the assembly.
