The United States has denied a visa for Mahmoud Abbas, the President of Palestine, to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Reasons for Visa Denial
The U.S. Department of State, in a statement that did not directly mention Mahmoud Abbas, announced that it has denied visas for members of the PLO and PA due to a lack of necessary reforms and activities that, in the opinion of the United States, undermine the prospects for peace. According to this department, these organizations have once again failed to meet their commitments to the United States.
