Zakaria Al-Amri, after securing second place in the RC2 class of the Lebanon Rally, has reached the top of the MERC 2 standings and established himself as a contender for the championship in this competition. This Omani driver achieved this success on Sunday during the fourth round of the event, which took place over three days on challenging asphalt stages around Beirut.
Strong Performance and Vital Points
Al-Amri and his co-driver, Mohammed Al-Mazrouei, managed to secure second place with balanced and professional driving in their Subaru Impreza N14. This result earned them valuable points and allowed Al-Amri to ascend to the top of the MERC 2 standings, with two rounds remaining in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia ahead of him.

Unique Challenges of the Lebanon Rally
The Lebanon Rally showcased a different challenge from the rocky stages commonly found in the regional calendar. The narrow and winding asphalt roads required high precision and focus from the drivers. In this competition, a prominent battle between Lebanese driver Roger Feghali and Saudi driver Basel Abuhamdan captured the audience's attention, with Feghali ultimately winning the contest.
The absence of Nasser Al-Attiyah, the Qatari star, and Abdullah Al-Rahhi, the young Omani champion, also impacted the competitive atmosphere. However, for Al-Amri, the focus was on earning championship points and avoiding costly mistakes. He stated, "I am happy to have secured second place here in Lebanon despite the tough conditions and asphalt roads. Our goal is to win the MERC 2 title, and our team is now focused on maintaining our lead in the final two rounds."
Al-Amri also expressed gratitude to his technical team and supporters, thanking the Omani ambassador in Beirut for his presence and moral support. He also acknowledged Mohammed bin Sulayman, the President of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), for attending the event and presenting the awards.
Now that Lebanon is behind him, Al-Amri enters the decisive championship phase, with final opportunities in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia to convert his lead into a regional title.
