The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that a commercial ship in the Gulf of Oman, which was seeking to violate Iran's maritime blockade, has been deactivated. This action followed repeated warnings to the ship's crew, who ignored these warnings and continued their attempts to breach the blockade.

Details of the Ship Deactivation Operation

According to the information provided, an American fighter jet used precision munitions to strike the rear of the ship flying the Saint Kitts flag and named Huda, rendering it inoperative. CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. forces had initially asked the crew to evacuate the targeted areas. The ship had departed from an Iranian port and was attempting to leave Iranian territorial waters.

Formation of a Special Force to Counter Iran's Land Routes

In a separate statement, CENTCOM announced that the commander of this force, Brad Cooper, has ordered the formation of a special unit called "Iron Gate" to assist U.S. efforts to prevent Iran from using land routes for the transfer of advanced weapons and other materials. This team will consist of about 20 personnel, both civilian and military, stationed in Tampa, Florida.

This special force will collaborate with other U.S. government agencies to prevent the transfer of advanced weapons, dual-use technologies, sanctioned materials, and illegal revenues from Iran's land borders and the Caspian Sea. Cooper stated that this special force will emphasize the successes achieved from Iran's maritime blockade and will facilitate closer cooperation between CENTCOM and other U.S. government entities.

He added that the maritime blockade has recently prevented the export of over $25 billion worth of crude oil from Iran. Cooper emphasized that this blockade will be strictly enforced on all ships entering and leaving Iranian ports.

These actions are aimed at tighter control over Iran's activities and reducing the country's ability to finance terrorism and rebuild its arms factories and supply its munitions. These events reflect the ongoing efforts of the United States to manage regional security and prevent threats arising from Iran's activities in the Persian Gulf and its surroundings.
