Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in his recent meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, called for the cessation and reversal of mandatory settlement construction in the West Bank. This meeting took place on the sidelines of an international conference in Azerbaijan, where Wang reiterated China's position regarding the Palestinian issue.

Statement from the Chinese Foreign Minister

Wang Yi stated during this meeting that China consistently believes that the Palestinian issue is the greatest historical injustice of this century. He added that promoting peace and reconciliation in the region is one of the fundamental principles of China's policy in the Middle East. The Chinese Foreign Minister also highlighted the importance of achieving a two-state solution as the correct path to resolving this conflict.

Immediate Actions to Prevent Humanitarian Crisis

Furthermore, Wang Yi pointed out the necessity of fully opening access to the Gaza Strip, stating that failure to do so could lead to the expansion of a "humanitarian disaster." He also emphasized that Israel must change its policies regarding settlement construction and contribute to the peace process.

China also expressed its readiness to cooperate with the international community to encourage all parties to return to dialogue and consultation. The country believes that by creating a positive atmosphere for negotiation, a political agreement can be achieved in this regard.

China is recognized as a long-standing supporter of the Palestinian issue and has close relations with Iran, which is considered one of Israel's main regional rivals. These relations may influence China's positions on Middle Eastern issues and reflect greater complexities in regional diplomacy.

In the current situation, the continuation of Israel's policies in the West Bank and disregard for the views of the international community could lead to increased tensions and humanitarian crises in the region. Therefore, it is essential for all parties to adhere to solutions that contribute to peace and stability in the region.
