The Dublin to Rome flight was diverted to the Evreux airbase in France due to a bomb threat. In this incident that occurred on Thursday, French officials confirmed that a plane returned to the country due to a suspicious bomb threat and was escorted by military fighter jets.

Flight status and security measures

The French Air Force stated that as soon as the alert was received, fighter jets were dispatched to the aircraft. French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu emphasized that "the situation is under control." Lecornu also announced that "the plane has successfully landed in Evreux and 151 passengers and 6 crew members have been transferred to a safe location." Bomb disposal teams were also present at the site.

Escalation of threats in Europe

Security threats were not limited to France, and media reports indicated that several other flights in Europe also faced bomb warnings. In particular, Italian media reported that two flights to Rome and from Milan were placed under the protection of Italian fighter jets due to bomb alerts.

Additionally, aviation authorities in Central and Eastern European countries were also put on high alert. For instance, a flight from Helsinki to Vienna operated by Jettime faced a bomb threat but landed in Vienna without incident. Also, in the Czech Republic, police reported that four flights to Prague were confronted with bomb threats.

In Bulgaria, there were also reports of a bomb threat against three Ryanair flights to the capital, Sofia. Two flights from Copenhagen and Madrid arrived in Sofia, while the third flight from London was diverted to Plovdiv.

Recent cyber consequences in Europe

These events come as just days ago, seven EU countries reported cyberattacks on supermarket refrigeration systems. These attacks led to increased temperatures in refrigerators and spoiled large quantities of food. Countries including Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands, Estonia, Luxembourg, Finland, and Ireland were among those affected by these attacks.

Reports indicate that these cyberattacks occurred overnight from Sunday to Monday, with cybercriminals exploiting vulnerabilities in supermarket refrigeration systems. A spokesperson for the European Commission stated that these incidents highlight the importance of cybersecurity across the Union and added: "These incidents show that cyberattacks can disrupt services and have a direct impact on the daily lives of citizens."

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for these recent attacks, and authorities have yet to identify individuals involved in similar incidents last month in France.
