Hassan Fadlallah, a representative of Hezbollah Lebanon, stated in his press conference at the Lebanese Parliament that hundreds of kilograms of explosives seized last week by the security forces of this country belong to Hezbollah. These materials were seized particularly at a time when tensions in Lebanon have risen due to the government's efforts to disarm this group.
Details of the Seizure of Explosives
Lebanese security forces last week stopped a vehicle carrying explosives at a checkpoint in the Eastern Bekaa region and arrested two individuals in the vehicle. At that time, officials refrained from disclosing the identity of the vehicle's owner, which raised widespread concerns in Lebanon. These concerns were due to the potential use of these materials in terrorist attacks or vehicle explosions within the country.

Hezbollah's Explanations
Fadlallah further clarified that Hezbollah intended to use these materials to attack Israel, a country that has occupied parts of Lebanon in recent wars. According to a Hezbollah official and a Lebanese security source, these explosives were specifically designed for use in explosive drones against Israeli forces. The Hezbollah representative also announced that the group immediately contacted security agencies and requested the return of the seized materials and the release of the arrested individuals.
This admission by Fadlallah reflects Hezbollah's efforts to continue carrying weapons in Lebanon despite the government's promises to control all arms in the country. The Lebanese government specifically banned Hezbollah's military activities in March, following missile launches by Hezbollah towards Israel in support of Tehran.
The Lebanese government is trying to reverse Hezbollah's relative freedom in transporting military equipment that has been covered for years. Additionally, this year, an agreement was signed under U.S. supervision between Lebanon and Israel, in which Beirut committed to disarming Hezbollah. In return, Israeli forces are to gradually withdraw from Lebanon. However, Hezbollah has stated that it will not disarm as long as Israeli forces are present in Lebanese territory.
